The Grass Strings is a Bluegrass Band based out of Kannapolis NC that formed in 1976. The band was started by Bob Hatley of Albemarle
NC. Bob attended his first bluegrass festival in Scribbins Georgia, and on the way home told his wife that he was going to start a
bluegrass band. In January 1976 The Grass Strings was formed and is still performing today 33 years later with 2 of the original members
still touring with the band.The band has played as far south as Lake Okachobee Florida, and as far north as Kalamazoo Michigan. The
band has showcased at some of the state rooms at IBMA, played Cabin Fever in Hampton Va. and numerous bluegrass festivals throughout
the southeast.The Grass Strings has some of the finest quartet bluegrass gospel music that you will have the opportunty to hear. With
songs of traditional bluegrass sounds and songs that are unique with bluegrass instruments, but have a different flavor of music,
that in most cases that would never have been considered of the bluegrass genre.Bob Hatley passed away in July of 1995, however the
guys in the band thought that The Grass Strings should carry on and keep the band going on in Bob's memory. So since 1995 people have
seen Jim Burris, and Jeff Russell continuing to sing together side by side the same as they did back in 1976.
